A flush is a set of cards in the same suit, while a straight is a set of five cards in the same suit. A full house is a hand made from three cards of a rank and two cards of a different rank. Typically, a joker counts as any rank for a flush and any suit for a straight.
In a bluffing game, a player may not bet or show his hand unless he is sure he has a good hand. If he is not sure of his hand, he can check, but he must then call the bet of the person to his left. If a bet is not called, a player may raise the bet by fourteen chips.
A pair of jacks is a hand that is made up of two jacks and two other jacks. This is also referred to as “three of a kind” or “three-of-a-kind”. A pair of sevens is a hand that is made up from three jacks and three other sevens. A “backdoor flush” is achieved by hitting needed cards on the turn and the river.
A three-of-a-kind is a hand that is made up of three jacks of spades. The two eyes on the king of diamonds and jack of hearts are sometimes referred to as a “wild card.” It is rare for a king of diamonds to be selected as a wild card.
There are a few variations of the game. Several versions of Stud Poker use a stripped deck, meaning that each card is dealt face down. In some cases, a joker is added to the deck. In other versions, the dealer determines which type of hand is being played.
If a player has a pair of jacks or better, he is often able to increase his bet. If he does not, he must drop the bet and replace it with the same number of chips as the previous player. If a player drops, he loses any chips in the pot. This is sometimes called “sandbagging.”
In other forms of Poker, a “backdoor flush” is achieved by hitting a needed card on the turn or the river. In these games, a joker is used as a wild card, but it does not reduce the value of the hand. In most cases, a pack of cards contains two jokers.
